For most of the past year, veterans from EDs have been volunteering alongside the West Lancs Rangers at the Abbey Lakes site to bring the under used nature park back to to its former glory.
A large amount of work has been undertaken clearing previously obstructed pathways around the lake and rebuilding damaged fishing pegs.
Throughout the summer and into the autumn EDs and our veterans will be continuing the project on alternate Tuesdays from 31st July to further improve the facility.
One local resident and wheelchair user posted on social media " Thank you all for the great job you did clearing up Abbey lakes. Now we can go for family walks around it."
